About the Artist

I’m an artist working out of Washington, DC. Photography is my principal medium, but I’m passionate about everything and anything that can fuse with my work: found objects; handmade papers; mummified insects; personal memorabilia; even, on occasion, blood & tears! My studio is filled with drying flowers, horseshoe crabs, silk cocoons, rusted tools, and the keyboard and hammers of an abandoned upright piano.

Visitors are welcome.          `

As an artist, I first worked with steel and stone and other raw materials. Then, for almost three decades, I worked as a director and producer of documentary films. Now I have returned to my studio, and it’s been like embracing a long-lost friend.

My passion for the natural world is at the center of much of my work, but I’m equally obsessed with industrial objects large and small. There is as much beauty in the arc of a single flower as there is in the power and geometry of an airplane wing.

No matter the subject, my work is textured. With layered and recombined prints, papers, photographs and pigments I alter surfaces and shapes and make the familiar strange and compelling.
